Task 6 - Laura Mulvey Representation

Laura Mulvey is a feminist who coined the term 'Male Gaze' in 1975 and they preceive characters from the perspective of man. Features of 'Male Gaze' are shots outline women sexually through body curves as theyre seen as objects.
What I understand from her interpretation is that females are seen as a sexual object towards men, and thier status is much lower than men and that theyre there to please the male eye.
Music videos are presented in such a way that both the female and male are made see women through the eyes of a heterosexual man

Really great examples of this can be seen through blurred lines, whereby the male actors and the audience see the women as objects to the men and as a sexual reference. One of the lyrics goes "let me liberate ya" and "far from plastic, must wanna get nasty" and "the way you grab me",  these are few of the lyrics that Luara herself speaks of, and that the male and audience view woman through a different lense, downgrading thier status.

Rick Ross - Diced Pineapples, potrays the value of women through the idea of money, and fame.
And is another perfect example of the representation of women in music videos. Of course this doesnt call for every music video.
