Task 5 - Carol Vernallis


Carol Vernallis is a writer on music videos, and has special fields in audiovisual aesthetics, digital technologies, film music, popular culture and popular music, production practice

  • Continuity editing does not neccessarily apply to music videos.
  • Edits are very obvious to the eye
  • Jump cuts are often used.
  • Master base tracks are used in order to maintain structure.
  • Camera moves with music.

of Slow Motion:


Although this isnt a music video, this best descibes slow motion in its best action, slowing it down though FPS. This can really attract attention and detail to the video giving it more impact and definiton to the audience.


Jump Cut:
A jump cut is a cut in film editing in which two sequential shots of the same subject are taken from camera positions that vary only slightly. This type of edit gives the effect of jumping forwards in time.



Close Ups:

Highlights emotion and refrains main character of the scene
